Hurghada Tourist Arrivals Hit Record High in May 2026
Over 650,000 tourists arrived in Hurghada in May, the highest monthly figure on record, driven by European charter traffic and extended Easter holidays.
Hurghada International Airport recorded 652,000 tourist arrivals in May 2026, the highest single-month figure in the city's history, according to data released by the Red Sea Tourism Authority. The previous record of 598,000 was set in March 2024.

Germany led all source markets with 142,000 arrivals, followed by Russia (98,000), the United Kingdom (67,000), Poland (52,000), and Ukraine (41,000). Notably, arrivals from Gulf countries showed a 34% year-over-year increase, reflecting growing interest from that region.
Real Estate Connection
The tourism surge has direct implications for the real estate market. Hotel occupancy rates averaged 87% in May, with many properties reporting full occupancy for the first time since before the pandemic. This performance is expected to support further hotel development and strengthen the investment case for short-term rental properties.
The Tourism Authority projects that 2026 will close with approximately 6.5 million total arrivals in Hurghada, up from 5.2 million in 2025.
